Phase 1 includes clearing, levelling and fencing the properties, upgrading the entrances to make them suitable for construction vehicles and building the Evangelism and Discipleship Centre.

Early in May 2024 Phase 1 of the project commenced with site-clearing activities, as evidenced by the following photographs.

Praise God that on Tuesday, May 21st 2024, the interim winter structure arrived! We are so thankful for shelter from the rain so that, Lord willing, we do not have to cancel the program. God is so good!

On the 30th August 2024 we received the delivery of a custom-made toilet block. On the 10th September we officially opened it as it was connected to sewerage line on Myrtle Grove. The children were very excited and we specially went out to uSave to buy a bar soap to celebrate this occasion! We are grateful to God for His provision. We now have a boys, girls and adult toilet facilities with a basin and outside tap.

On the 21st September, we had a team of people on site to remove a large tree which caused safety concerns to the team. We are thankful to God that Durant Swart, from Cherry Lumber Jack Trees, with the help of his team and a group of men from Myrtle Grove and J Gey van Pittius, as able to safety remove the large tree. This tree has been standing for many decades and provided opportunities for children to have fun in while climbing and swinging on along with providing much needed shade.

The removal of the tree and the arrival of the toilet block was right on time as Holiday Club started on Monday the 23rd September 2024. A special word of thanks to everyone involved for making these two significant milestones possible as the development of Myrtle Grove continues.
